Kirkbrae Presbyterian Homes Residential Aged Care Facility has now completed a 14-day period of Enhanced Surveillance Mode. We are waiting for advice as to when we can formally declare the COVID-19 Outbreak over.
During the past week we have welcomed the final remaining residents who had been evacuated back to Kirkbrae. They were delighted to return home after being away for over six weeks. Our sincere thanks go to St John of God Berwick Hospital and Eastern Health for the care they provided to our residents while they were away from the facility.
We are continuing to screen residents and staff by checking temperatures and monitoring for any symptoms and recording this at least daily. Staff who have any illness will be prevented from attending work.
During the week we held two meetings with large groups of Resident’s representatives and families over the Zoom platform. We are very appreciative of the generous feedback of those who were able to attend. We will continue to hold these meetings regularly to ensure we can communicate progress to our community.
The patience and support of all residents and their families is sincerely appreciated as we continue the recovery from the outbreak.
We will remain extremely cautious and vigilant over the coming weeks to ensure that there is no second wave of infections at Kirkbrae.
The support of Eastern Health, the Departments of Health at State and Federal levels, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission and their representatives has been greatly appreciated and remains in place.
The commitment, dedication and support of all Kirkbrae staff and our contracted
